Services at Fall Forward

Fall Forward is a social and community services organisation based in the Cairns region, currently undergoing NDIS registration. At present, we support participants who are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS.

Our focus is on supporting people with psychosocial disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and intellectual impairment. Fall Forward also supports participants with hearing impairment, with a number of our Coaches equipped to use Auslan sign language to communicate. While our Coaches are not formally registered Auslan interpreters, they are knowledgeable and confident in effectively supporting hearing-impaired participants in their daily lives.

While we currently do not provide services for people requiring physical supports such as hoisting or wheelchair transfers, we hold deep respect for individuals with all abilities and acknowledge the value and dignity of every person’s journey.

We are inviting people into a community where they belong, where they can release what no longer serves them and step into a new mindset of freedom, growth, and possibility.

Our Emotional Values

Belonging

Creating safe spaces where people feel connected.

Empowerment

Supporting shifts in mindset that open new possibilities.

Freedom

Releasing generational chains, old patterns, and limiting beliefs.

Connection

Fostering authentic relationships and community bonds that uplift and inspire.

Our Organisational Pillars

All of our supports are delivered through the foundation of our organisational pillars: Integrity, Accountability, Leadership, and Teamwork.

We uphold Integrity by ensuring every interaction is grounded in respect, transparency, and honesty. We embrace Accountability by following through on our commitments and delivering consistent, high-quality support. We step into Leadership by guiding positive change, encouraging growth, and modelling resilience for participants and our community. Above all, we live Teamwork by working collaboratively with participants, families, and partners to create safe, inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

These pillars guide how we provide our NDIS supports across community access, self-care, short-term accommodation, supported independent living, and group activities.

Our NDIS Supports

1. Access Community – Participation in community, social and civic 1:1 support

We support participants to actively engage in their community through social, civic, and recreational activities. This includes attending events, building friendships, accessing local services, and exploring opportunities for personal growth.

2. Assistance with Self-Care Activities – 1:1 support

Fall Forward provides respectful and supportive assistance with personal care and daily living tasks. This may include supervision or direct support with routines such as meal preparation, hygiene, dressing, household management, and attending health appointments. Our focus is not only on meeting immediate needs but also on building skills and capacity, so participants can strengthen their independence and live more autonomously.

3. Short-Term Accommodation (STA) / Respite

Our STA services provide participants and families with valuable respite, offering opportunities for individuals to spend time away from home in a supportive and empowering environment. During their stay, participants are supported to build new skills, increase independence, and enjoy meaningful experiences that promote confidence, growth, and freedom. STA can also provide safe emergency care options when needed, always centred on dignity, belonging, and personal choice.

4. Supported Independent Living (SIL) – Semi-Independent Living

Fall Forward offers semi-independent living options with 24/7 support for individuals who require ongoing assistance in their daily lives. Our SIL services are designed to balance safety and support with personal growth and independence. Participants are encouraged and guided to develop life skills, create meaningful routines, and build the confidence to thrive, while being part of a caring and connected community.

5. Group Activities – Around the Kitchen Table

Fall Forward provides opportunities for participants to connect through structured group activities, with our flagship program being “Around the Kitchen Table.” This program combines cooking, conversation, and creativity to help participants learn life skills in a relaxed, social setting. Activities may include preparing healthy meals together, exploring nutrition, sharing personal stories, and creating art or scrapbooks as part of group projects.

Through group activities, participants:

  • Build confidence in working alongside others.
  • Learn practical skills such as cooking, planning, and organisation.
  • Strengthen their sense of belonging and contribution to the community.
  • Experience joy and connection through shared meals and meaningful conversations.
